Sunbury Hockey Club Colts is a well-established and successful section of the main Club, always looking for new young members from 7+ to join in and learn this exciting and rewarding team game.
Children are welcome to attend our professionally run training sessions every Sunday morning from September 7th through until April at Hampton Community College, Hanworth Road, Hampton, Middlesex. Each age group is run by an EHA qualified Lead Coach who aims to introduce and develop over the course of the season, new skills and drills to further each individual's talents within the junior game.
Within the section, we run seven training groups which for the Season 2008/9 will be at the following times:
Under 9 - Mixed Sundays 9.15am - 10.45am
Under 11 Boys Sundays 10.45am - 12.15pm
Under 11 Girls Sundays 10.45am - 12.15pm
Under 14 Boys Sundays 09.15am - 10.45am
Under 12& 13 Girls Sundays 12.15pm - 1.45pm
Under 14 Girls Sundays 1.30pm - 3pm
Under 16 Girls Sundays 1.30pm - 3pm
(U16 Boys & Girls also train on Thursday Evenings 8pm - 9.30pm with the Adult Section)
Matches and Tournaments for all age groups take place throughout the season and from age 11 onwards, both Boys and Girls Teams play in local Junior Development Leagues. As the children mature, the club actively encourage those older children to play for the adult teams along with promoting attendance at the Evening Training Sessions run by the Senior Team Coaches.
The continued enthusiasm shown by all the children in our Colts section is a reflection of the dedication of our experienced coaching team whose past credits include encouraging children who have played at County and Regional Level in Middlesex and Surrey. We have also had a number of children who earned their places in their local borough Hockey Teams and have played at both the London Youth Games and their own County Youth Games.
2005/6 season - Sunbury U11 boys and U13 boys were County Champions
2006/7 season - Sunbury U11 Girls and U13 Girls reached the South Regional Tournament Finals with the U13 Girls winning the Plate competition.
2007/8 - U11 Girls reached the Quarter-final stage at the South Regional Tournament Finals & the U14 Girls reached the Home Counties Girls League Play-offs.
